Know what I absolutely hate about disappointment?

The way it can own you.

Many of you may look at that comment and think, "No it can't. That's ridiculous." But it can my friends, it can indeed.

The thing about disappointment is that often times to be disappointed in someone or something means to place hope where there was none before. To place hope also means to attempt to trust. And when disappointment comes, it's almost a breaking of trust. Happiness and sadness and indifference can all make a difference in one's life, but disappointment seems lasting. Because you always look back and you wonder. You wonder what if? What if things had been different? What if I had believed differently?

The thing is when I am disappointed it's usually by something seen as trivial by others...but it's important to me. I placed my trust in someone and when you say you are going to do something and you don't it means you went back on your word. And what good are you if your word isn't worth anything? It's the principle of the matter. The actual act itself can be seemingly simple and carefree: a phonecall, an email, even a smile or a compliment. The thing is when you say you are going to do something, you should do it. Because you never know you are disappointing when you don't keep your word. It may be yourself, but it could be someone else.

And I am so tired of being disappointed. I'm tired of being disappointed by men mostly. And it isn't that I place all of my hope in someone other than myself, it's the fact that the people I want to be close to should believe in promises and bonds. It should mean something. I should mean something...

*Always.
