Are our most defining moments enveloped in disappointment and regret or in hope and happiness?

This is something I have been thinking about recently and I've been looking back through my life and examining my most defining moments; the sad realization you ask? My most defining moments were defining only because I learned something and often times we don't learn our lessons through hope and happiness. My character has slowly become something that I think reflects my goodness to others, though sometimes it's hard to see.

There are certain aspects that define me that I don't necessarily like or am partial to, but the thing I realized is that my cynicism, my sourness...well, I have it for a reason. It defines me and it defines for others the things I have been through. It's hard to be defined by things that have been hurtful to me, but they're painful for a reason I suppose: Next time I'll know better.

*Always.
