Recently I read an entry today from a friend's diary and it made me wonder about relationships and when it's "closing time."

When is it okay to end a relationship? When is it not okay? How do you tell the difference?

I think to decide these things one has to really look at the specific relationship. I told my friend that if you don't feel you are getting what you really need or even want from a particular relationship then you either need to take time out or cut the relationship out completely. What's the point in continuing in something when your heart isn't fully there and your mind is having second thoughts?

There are several types of relationships that need cutting off; I am sure we have all experienced a few of them, but here they are in their entirety:

A) The Friend Who Knows Too Much Relationship

~ There comes a time in everyone's life where (generally speaking) people tend to become close to at least one or two people in their life; sometimes what we fail to realize is that by opening up so much to another person we can at the same time leave oursevles open and vulnerable. I had one of these friends, I put all my trust and honesty into out friendship and in the end I lost out. Those are relationships that are okay to cut out.

B) The Friends Because We've Always Been Friends Relationship

~ Sometimes people have a hard time letting go because they've always been friends with a particular person. What you need to ask yourself is: Am I getting the same ol' stuff from this person that I was ten years ago? I think that as friendships grow and develop, one should be gaining new things from the people you find yourself with. If you're not, well then it's time to cut out!

There are several more but for now I shall leave you with those two, as I have class shortly and must go learn about Psychology, yippy...

*Always.
