His good nature and plesant expression faded rather quickly upon hearing his mother's voice.

"Hugh are you in here?" Olivia Montgomery yelled from behind the slightly open french doors.

"No, go away mother. I am busy and I haven't the time nor patience to deal with your antics today," Hugh looked up towards the door as it slowly opened.

"Oh Hugh! Will you at least humor me for a few moments? This is a rather pressing issue," Olivia popped her head inside with a beaming smile upon her face.

"Mother, if you are not dying then it is only a pressing issue to you."

"You know I am your mother and your father left me this house. You may own all the money and the rest of the estate, but if you can't spare a second then I suggest you find somewhere else to live Hugh Jacob Montgomery!" Olivia was breathing heavy after her brief but theatrical speech and it was obvious to Hugh that the issue would continue to be an issue until his mother complained about it verbally.

"Fine mother. What is so "pressing"?" Hugh rose from his desk as she fully entered the room.

"Mr. Graves, our attorney, needs some financial advice and I told him that you would be glad to oblige him. I set an appointment for tomorrow around eleven or so and he IS expecting you to call Hugh."

"Mother, I want to make something clear right now. I have businesses to run, people to employ and manage; I do not have the time to be doing favors for you simply because one of your lovers requests it of you! This is the third time this month I will have had to rearrange my schedule to meet YOUR demands! It is ridiculous and I want it to stop immediately, do I make myself understood mother?"

Hugh's fists were balled tightly and he was leaning heavily upon his desk. His knuckles were bruttaly aching and it felt as if he might actually break them at any moment.

to be continued another time...

*Always.
