What is it about our expectations that leads us astray? Do we need to minimize our expectations of everything in order to really avoid pain, suffering, and hurt? In reality, without expectations there can be no disappointment; without expectations we would be systematically perfect in our motives, actions, and thoughts. We would do things because we needed to do them, not necessarily because we would expect something in return.

How many times have I expected too much of something and been disappointed? Let me count the instances, gee. There's been several occasions when it comes to my job, my family, my personal ability, and especially with regards to the opposite sex. So, I urge you to join me in casting aside expectations for a while and testing the waters to see if the expectationless way is better than the road more traveled by others: Expectation Avenue.

*Always.
