"Yes," Hugh replied, "he was always good to his word; unlike some people." He glanced up to lock eyes with his mother. Hugh hadn't noticed before now but there was pain there today. Her eyes, usually a dark blue tint, were now somewhat gray and misty. She looked older than truly was.

"What next Mr. Graves?" Hugh motioned for him to continue.

"Ah, yes well he has made it very clear that he wants these next few pieces of the will to be carried out precisely! Not adjustments!"

They all nodded in accordance; Hugh was quite confused at the time as to what Mr. Graves had meant by that, but he quickly learned...

"Mrs. Montgomery your husband left you the house-"

He was immediately cut off by an extremely excited gasp! Olivia was now waddling toward Hugh in a most boarish manner. "You see Hugh! Your father did have some sense after all. To think he would have left it to you...you must be out of your mind!"

"Mrs. Montgomery may I finish please?" He glanced at her over his horribly mishapen lenses and she nodded and quietly stepped back into her place. "Mrs. Reginald Montgomery shall retain the household UNTIL Hugh has finished his schooling and returns to Broadbourg. She shall maintain ownership for approximately two years of Reginald's death..."

The look on Olivia's face was one of horror. She looked to Mr. Graves and then to Hugh and then to Arthur...Hugh smiled like the Devil himself.

"Well, Mother I certainly hope you enjoy your ownership while you have it!" Hugh looked to Mr. Graves, "Is that all there is, Mr. Graves?"

"Uh, yes I believe so. Your father left all his money in banks in the appropriate accounts for you, your brother, and Mrs. Montgomery." Mr. Graves straightened his papers and stood to go to the old rolltop desk in the corner.

The tension in the room was unbelievable...Hugh, most of all, was enjoying himself though.
